What is Data Governance?

Data governance is a set of processes, roles, policies, standards, and metrics for the efficient effective use of information. It outlines policies on access to data, who can take action, methods used, when and in what situations. Data governance enables organizations to have control over the processes that handle data. Some items covered by data governance include availability, usability, accuracy, integrity, consistency, completeness, and security.
