OLTP

What is OLTP?

OLTP (Online Transactional Processing) is the processing transactional queries, maintaining data integrity and effectiveness (transactions per second). OLTP supports transactional applications in a 3-layer architecture. It can handle the day to day transaction of an organization. The ATM centers use an OLTP system. For example, if two partners with a joint account access their account at the same time using different machines to withdraw the total money, the first person who completes the authentication first, will get the money. OLTP is used for tasks like inserting, updating and/or deleting small amounts of data in a database accessed by a large number of users.
